Shashini Dayawansha
Shashini brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as a lecturer. With two years of lecturing experience for BSc undergraduates at a private university in Sri Lanka, she has proven her capability and commitment to education. Beyond her academic roles, she has significant professional experience as a full-time Research Associate at a global strategy consulting and management firm. Currently, she is also serving as a visiting lecturer in Mathematics at a university, where she continues to inspire and educate students. She holds a BSc in Mathematics and Economics with First Class Honours, awarded by the University of London with academic direction from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and currently pursuing an MSc in Financial Mathematics at the University of Colombo. In her teaching philosophy, Shashini emphasizes the reciprocal nature of education. She believes that teaching is a two-way street where students and lecturers learn from each other. Engaging with students to understand their perspectives on the subject matter and beyond is something she finds particularly enriching. Shashini’s approach is not only about imparting knowledge but also about building strong, trustworthy relationships with her students. She aims to guide them in their higher studies and career paths, leveraging her expertise to help them achieve their goals. Her dedication to academic excellence has been recognized with several awards. She received an Academic Excellence Award (Letter of Commendation) from the University of London for her exceptional academic performance in the 2021 May/June examinations. Additionally, she was honored as the RIC Valedictorian for the Class of 2022, being the top of her batch. Highly adaptable and passionate about teaching, she values the dynamic nature of the classroom environment. She is committed to fostering a supportive and engaging learning experience, helping her students navigate and excel in their academic journeys.
