Nowanya Senaratne
Nowanya is an experienced Computer Science and Information Technology educator with over five years of teaching experience in the Cambridge and Edexcel curricula. She is currently pursuing both a Bachelor of Information Technology at SLIIT and the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) at the University of Colombo School of Computing. She also holds a Certificate in Computer Science from NIBM and a Diploma in Information Technology from ESOFT, reflecting her strong academic foundation in the field of computing.
Passionate about technology education, she is dedicated to making Computer Science and Information Technology simple, practical, and engaging for students. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes real-world applications, hands-on learning, and the development of strong problem-solving skills. By simplifying complex IT concepts and adapting lessons to suit individual learning styles, she creates an interactive and supportive learning environment where students can thrive.
Throughout her teaching career, she has taught English medium Computer Science and Information Technology to students from Grade 1 to Advanced Level under both the Cambridge and Edexcel curricula. Beyond classroom instruction, she has contributed to preparing examination papers, organizing ICT-related workshops and educational events, and mentoring students on technology-based projects, helping them develop both academic knowledge and practical skills.
Her commitment to educational excellence is reflected in her role as a Cambridge Examination Invigilator, as well as her success in guiding students to outstanding academic achievements in Computer Science and ICT. She has also been recognized for organizing ICT competitions and workshops and for her dedication to innovative teaching practices and student development.
