Gayanthi John
Gayanthi holds a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Sri Lanka and an MSc in Environmental Engineering from Thailand. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering in Sri Lanka, further strengthening her expertise in engineering and applied sciences.
Currently serving as a Lecturer (Probationary) at the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa, she has been in the role since 2021. She has also contributed to higher education as a Visiting Lecturer at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and the Skills College of Technology Campus, bringing valuable academic and industry-oriented perspectives to her teaching.
With a strong engineering background, she approaches Physics by connecting theoretical concepts to real-world applications. Rather than encouraging rote memorization of formulas, she helps students understand the principles behind them through practical demonstrations and engaging classroom activities. Her lessons are designed to make complex concepts visual, relatable, and easy to grasp.
To prepare students for academic success, she incorporates past paper discussions and structured problem-solving sessions into her teaching, enabling students to confidently apply their knowledge in examinations. Her student-centered approach fosters critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and the confidence needed to excel in Physics.
